The community grant is one of a number of grants recently awarded through LCRA&#8217;s Community Development Partnership Program.  The program provides economic development and community assistance grants to cities, counties, volunteer fire departments, regional development councils, and other non-profit organizations in LCRA&#8217;s electric and water sevice areas as part of LCRA&#8217;s effort to give back to the communities it serves.  The City of Schulenburg is one of LCRA&#8217;s  wholesale electric customers and a partner in the grant program.</p>

<p>It’s that time of year again!! We will be sponsoring the 2007 Texas Reading Program. The purpose of this program is to encourage our youth of the community to check out books and read during the summer months. The age groups are Read-To-Me (infant to 4-years old) to age 12. Parents are required to read 15 books to the Read-To-Me level. Ages 5-9 are required to read 15 books. Ages 10-12 are required to read 10 chapter books. The theme for this program is Sail Away With Books! It will begin June 1, 2007 and end on August 13, 2007. The Library will offer activities that make reading FUN! Story time will be held on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. You can contact the Library at (979)743-3345 for a schedule of planned events.</p>
<p>Encourage your child to participate in the 2007 Texas Reading Program! By doing so, you will help your child retain hard earned reading skills acquired during the school year. The library books, audiocassettes, dvds and videos available for you to check out. Your family can explore Texas from the Gulf Coast to the Piney Woods with an inexpensive trip to the library. Joining the Library is free!</p>
